Harrison HayesHow it all began…
In 2005 I became Tennessee’s junior bowling champion. I also set the state record in the process. I was performing better than I ever could have imagined. The following year, I was back again- competing with my team for a spot at the championships. This was to be the team’s 10th consecutive year to advance. I rolled the first ball of the game and hit the pocket leaving a ringing 10 pin. It was a beautiful shot. I tried calming myself down with my usual “positive self-talk” but as I stepped up and shot with my spare ball, I barely missed. At that point, I became immediately trapped in my own head. Every shot I threw felt like the toughest shot I had ever taken. After the second game in the three-game series, my coach asked me if I wanted someone else to sub in. With my ego flaring, I looked him in the eye and confidently stated, “No, coach, I’ve got this. Trust me!” To my surprise, we lost that game by 10 pins and it haunted me for years to come. As a result of feeling like a failure, I turned to prescription drugs in an attempt to quiet my thoughts. I allowed addiction to consume me; mind and body. I had changed drastically. My friendships were suffering, my relationships with family were in turmoil, and I had become unreliable and distant to those I loved. The worst part was, my undoing was by my own hands. After a year and a half, in my darkest desperation, I cried out to God – begging for an escape from the person I had become. And as quickly as I had completed my prayer, my mother, who had previously kicked me out of her house, asked if I would be willing to move back in with her in another city. The move effectively cut off access to any drugs and I was finally released from my pill addiction. Once I was sober and clear headed, I was able to reflect on that day at the bowling alley. I wanted to know how the best performers in the world were able to win practically every game. I set out on a mission to crack the code on their success. I have studied the best performers in the world such as Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Josh Waitzkin and many more. I learned they were not champions by accident. They were accessing a specific “zone” in their minds – allowing them to perform at their peak level; hyper-focused, confident and infallible. I was curious. What if I could create my own “zone” for performance? I began testing and implementing my prototype, and in the process, I qualified for national championships as an amateur in multiple sports. Later, I was able to further enhance my product using my certification in Neuro-Linguistic Programming. The results were greater than I had expected and I wanted to share it with others like the 16 year old me before my meltdown. I have now had the opportunity to work with NFL, PGA, DPGA, and amateur athletes and after discovering what works and (more importantly) what does not work when helping others get in their zone. With my knowledge and research, I created an automated system to reach as many people as possible. The Zone Key™ and Zaudio™ are my creations and have changed the way I understand performance and success. Anyone has the ability to create a zone where they can perform their best…every single time. If you want to take yourself to the next level look no further than working with us here at Born Clutch. Hope I get to see you play and talk to you in the future. Until then, clutch on! |
